Self love has become a popular topic recently and personally I am such a fan. In an age that demands our attention and saturates our thoughts with ideas and images of how our lives should be, I believe time for self-reflection is essential.
Dedicating time to show your self love and care is necessary not only for you, but also for others. We can not show others love if we do not first show our self love. This appears selfish but there is a difference between being selfish and taking care of yourself. Self love is simply another way to take care of yourself just like spending the time to prepare yourself a healthy meal is. Devoting time for yourself does not have to be extravagant unless you want it to be. For me, something as simple as slowly sipping my coffee in the morning while reading a book is enough to keep me mentally in a state of wellbeing.
Neglecting to show your self love can manifest in a number of different ways, all of which are negative. I know whenever I go a period of time without spending the time to journal, read, or even just put on a face mask, I find myself unnecessarily stressed which effects not only me, but also, those around me. Self love cultivates positive energy which attracts more positivity into your life.
Self love is about taking a step back and showing gratitude for the life you are living. It’s about listening to your personal needs, spending the time to care for yourself, and celebrating yourself because we are all uniquely designed and have amazing things to offer this world.
